Bengal Gram Curry
Ingredients

Bengal gram dhall : 1 cup
Water : 450 ml
Cooking oil : 4 tb sp
onion, chopped : 1 no
Tomatoes, chopped : 2 no
green chillies, chopped : 2 no
garlic, crushed: 2 cloves
fresh ginger, crushed : 1" long
curry leaves 8 no
Red chilli powder : 1 tsp
Turmeric powder : 1 tsp
salt, to taste
Tamarind juice : 4 tb sp
fresh coriander,chopped : 1 handful

Method:

In a saucepan, cook the bengal gram dhall in the water until the grains are tender but not mushy. Put aside without draining away any excess water.Heat the oil in a deep saucepan. Fry the chillies, onion, garlic, ginger, curry leaves, chilli powder, turmeric and salt.Add the cooked dhall with water and bring to a boil. Add the tamarind juice, tomatoes and fresh coriander. Simmer gently for 2-3 minutes.
